When I try to intall the exe i've downloaded from the java website, I go through the usual "click yes for authentication" and then the installer appears for an instant with its little green bar and dissapears.
The installer no longer shows up in my task manager, though the process still exists. The installation just hangs indefinatly with no errors. If i try to reload the installer exe I get an error "Installer: CreateFile failed with error The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
All i have is a 32 bit java and I'm hesitant to uninstall that. Windows is fully updated so no problems there and it was a clean install, as i swapped out the stock hard drive for an SSD, so any bloatware issue is non existant.

Browsers today are massive memory hogs I normally run FF and Chrome at the same time, but this thing can handle it. You're not going to game, but you can browse and watch Netflix, and putz around the OS without pulling your hair out.
Don't expect to be able to use Readyboost even on the USB 3. Windows 10 is a step in the right direction for the weight of the OS on resources. Puppy Linux booted fine, but it didn't recognize the touchpad.
I tried Ubuntu as well, and it'd fail to boot as well. The body is strong. Plastic, and not averse to flexing, but it's more rigid than you would think going in.
I'm running Arch Linux as I type kernel 4. To get the touchpad to work, changes it's config in the 'BIOS' to a legacy mode. It won't work well in windows like that, but two finger scrolling works by default.

Transfer times were what one would expect of a USB connection. I used a 64gb USB thumb drive. That's a bit of overkill but I wouldn't recommend anything under 8gb.
You need to have the USB drive in place before starting the upgrade, then just follow the Windows prompts. The upgrade was much slower to install on the Aspire than on my laptop and desktop machines.
Performance doesn't seem to be any different and the upgrade did not harm any of my data files, including the BitLocker 1gb encrypted drive. New features on the upgraded Windows 10 can be easily Googled.
I've read reports that some software packages, such as SpyBot, will need a re-install. Interestingly a number of apps that I had removed from the Acer Money, Sports, Acer Explorer re-appeared after the update and I had to remove them manually.

No luck, I can't even start the Minecraft. Yep, works fine with 32 bit. However, you say you're using only the bit which is the same thing I want. Strange, try installing 32bit Java, re-installing Minecraft, uninstalling 32bit leaving you with 64bit and see how that goes?
I tried uninstalling everything, all Java, all Minecraft, everything. Then I re-installed only Java bit and then re-installed Minecraft, and still, the same error. Maybe it's something in the registry, I don't know. This is honestly quite frustrating.
Sorry about the double post, but the problem is fixed. I believe it was something that was wrong with my Minecraft launcher, I redownloaded it from the website and it's working now.

JonnyComp Aug 12, , I figured that if i was using my 64 bit computer to operate programs and games e. I just found it strange that I'm unable to install it. I'm sort of sensitive to the possibility of this installation issue happening in the future with other programs.
This is by no means an urgent, must-fix-immediatly issue. I am curious, however, if anyone else is having similar problems, as this issue might be a problem in the future when websites adopt the use of 64bit java.
Oh, by the way, I was able to reinstall the 32 bit java with no problems. Afterward I tried installing the 64 bit version and still had the same problem. This might be a lost cause.
Looks like there is a bug i some cases like yours.
